Panda-monium Marketing Strategy

In marketing, occasionally a great product needs repackaging. A great book needs a new cover. A good web site needs a facelift.

The elephant is Thailand's national symbol, but the country has gone panda-crazy since the birth of a female panda cub to pandas Lin Hui and Xuang Xuang at Chiang Mai zoo in Bangkok.

Sick of all the fuss, keepers at the Ayutthaya-Elephant Kraal decided to take drastic-action, painting five of their neglected giants in watercolor paint, then parading them before school children.

The stunt has resulted in panda-monium as the zookeepers try to draw the country's attention back to its neglected giants.

There is something weird about these photos. They got me interested in finding out how the fluff was added onto the white portion. Not sure I like it or not.

I guess the elephants are lucky that it was a panda and not some other animal.

I'm sure the fuss was die down and depending on how the Zoo is laid out the elephants might have automatically benefited anyway

Cindy, that white fluff is the elephant's own hair. It just stands out more with the paint on it.

Hey Tim, thanks for the explanation. Obviously I didn't know that, and it really intrigued me when I first saw the photos.
